In addition to an introductory program called “Congos Kickers”, provided for young children, Lidcombe CSC caters for both juniors (U6 up to U18) and seniors (All Age Mens and Ladies). Teams for the season will be formed/confirmed based on the number of registrations received. See also Junior Player Progression for further details.
Weather permitting, preseason training usually starts in February/March, with the formal competition commencing in April. There are 18 rounds in the competition, which ends in late August or early September. Games are played on a Saturday – but not on the Saturday of the King’s Birthday long weekend in June. On the Monday of that long weekend, there is a six-a-side gala day instead (which is organised by the CFA). Of note there is also a midweek night competition (nine-a-side) for All Age Ladies.
The home ground for Lidcombe CSC is Phillips Park, this is where our home games are played. Games are also held at other parks, which are the home grounds for the other teams in the competitions. A list of the commonly-used grounds, with links to maps, is shown below. Please note, there may also be other venues.

If it’s raining, very often it doesn’t matter – games still go ahead. Please do not assume that just because it’s raining, that the game has been cancelled.
The ultimate decision about whether or not a game goes ahead (when it’s raining) comes from the Local Council – it’s their sporting ground. They decide if a ground is open or closed, and will tell sporting organisations like ours about the status of a ground.
If Council tells us that a ground is closed, and so a game is cancelled, the Club will inform the affected coaches/managers as soon as possible, so that they can pass the message on to the team. Ways in which this is communicated can include messaging (e.g. SMS, WhatsApp), phone calls, posts on our web site and/or Facebook page.
The same applies for midweek training sessions – training can still go ahead as long as Phillips Park is still open. If Council closes Phillips Park during the week because of rain, then training cannot go ahead and the Club will inform the affected coaches/managers as soon as possible.
Regular weekly training sessions for each team occur typically on a Tuesday and/or Wednesday evening, at Phillips Park. The scheduled day and time is worked out to best suit the coach/manager and players in the team. Depending on the team, a training session might last 60 to 90 minutes or more (based on what works best for the team). To see an example, the training session times which were used in 2024 are shown on the training page
The Club will provide soccer shorts and socks – yours to keep.
Each player will receive a jersey, which they will use for the season, but it remains the property of the Club and must be returned at the end of the season (returned via the team Manager / Coach).
Each player must provide their own soccer boots and shinpads, in order to play in competition games.
Lidcombe CSC is one of countless community-based sporting clubs which is run entirely by volunteers. Roles where help is always appreciated include:
- Taking up a Coach or Manager role for a junior team – this involves one training session night each week at Phillips Park, and Saturday mornings at the competition games. Coaching/Managing is a rewarding and fun activity, the Club does rely on such help being given where possible by parents, and we provide guidance and assistance to Coaches and Managers.
- Helping to serve at the Club canteen at Phillips Park for an hour or so on one Saturday during the season when your team is playing a game there, and/or helping at the BBQ to cook sausages. Canteen sales provides funds for running the Club.
- serving on the Club Committee – new ideas are always welcome.
